"If you love animals and have pets.. you are well aware of just how much they become part of your family. A pet's passing is a very sad time.
These plaques are a nice tribute to a special friend, to a family member. They live on in a permanent image especially made to memorialize them. (and by doing so, may help ease your loss.) the people at catanddogplaques.com are dedicated to create an individualized memorial perfect for you.
I think this is a worthwhile product for those of us who truly love our pets even after they are gone." ~becky, pet owner and Mom to Shelby and Truman below

Shelby the blue merle collie... born 7/9/90.. died 6/24/02.
We bought her in Feb 96 from a breeder in New Hampshire while Dave was still in vet school..
She had some idiosyncrasies.. but we loved her.. we called her shelba -lou (short for shelby louise).. and most often boo-ba-la.. she loved the snow.. and loved sledding..
Dave brushed her teeth faithfully and took great care of her.. he'd say hello to her before he'd say hello to me on his arrival home. She was very gentle with my little boy Sam.
She loved playing hide and seek and bounced like a bunny when she ran.. despite, the occasional trials and frustrations, she was a sweet dog, very much part of our early family years and very much loved. Aging was somewhat difficult for her.. and for us. we will always remember her fondly.

Truman.. born 5/31/95 died 3/1/03. Truman was a black long haired german shepherd that was fortunate enough to meet Dave his first couple of weeks as a veterinarian.
He was just over two years old in June of 97 when his breeder wanted him euthanized.. he hadn’t been very well socialized and had an ailment that some dogs get when they grow too fast.. his front legs would be very painful..
We managed this with some pain medication until he outgrew it.... he bonded to me immediately and followed me everywhere.. he was always at my feet.. he rarely rested. always on guard in case I left the room.
He was overly protective of me and showed a sneaky aggression to people that came to our home.. usually putting his teeth on the back of their leg to let them know that he didn’t approve of their presence.. he was slinky...
But more than anything he was adoring and devoted.. to me.. he was "true" more than anything.. we called him truey.. truskin.. most of the time he went off to work for the day with Dave to give me a break... he was always on the thin side.. his food allergies were problematic.. that worsened with time.. we tried managing it with dietary changes.. cooking oatmeal and boiled hamburger.. changing his food.. etc. he would do well for awhile..
But in the end it was too much of a battle for him.. at his best, he was very handsome with soulful eyes..
